Gary Allen

As a student, Allen majored in history at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California,〔Ronald Lora, William Henry Longton, ''The Conservative Press in Twentieth-Century America'', Greenwood Press, 1999, p.507〕 and studied as well at California State University in Long Beach.〔(''None Dare Call It Conspiracy'' ), 1971〕 He was a prominent member of Robert W. Welch, Jr.'s John Birch Society, of which he was a spokesman. He contributed to magazines such as ''Conservative Digest''〔 and ''American Opinion'' magazine since 1964.〔Willie Maartens, ''Mapping Reality A Critical Perspective on Science and Religion'', iUniverse, 2006, p. 272〕 He also was the speech writer for George Wallace, the former governor of Alabama and a one-time segregationist, during the 1968 U.S. presidential election against Richard M. Nixon and Hubert H. Humphrey. Allen died in 1986 in Long Beach, California, at the age of 50 of a liver ailment.〔
